Right now I have a starter plan but I ran out of tasks very quickly. I plan on upgrading to the professional one but I want to make sure I have enough tasks purchased. If I set up a zap with custom paths (whereas now I have multiple zaps), will that count as one task when the zap is triggered or multiple?

Hi @wiggins-zap

Here’s a help article to learn more about Tasks: https://zapier.com/help/manage/history/learn-about-tasks-in-zapier

TLDR: A successful Zap step counts as 1 Task.

Thanks for that! For myself, I’m wanting to send contacts to MailChimp when people sign up for alerts on the website’s form. If I set up a zap with paths, would it be 7 tasks if someone signs up for 7 audiences or 6 tasks if someone signs up for 6 of the available 7 audiences?

Thanks!

Hi @wiggins-zap

Depends on how your Zap steps are configured.

Your Zap Runs will show the number of Tasks used for a triggered Zap: https://zapier.com/app/history/

TIP: When in doubt, turn the Zap ON and test it out.

NOTE: Mailchimp recommends having 1 Audience and using Tags to segment.

Looking at my current history isn’t much help since I don’t have custom logic/paths set up. If I cleaned up my MailChimp so that contacts are in one audience but have multiple tags, would that be multiple tasks for one zap?

Thank you for your help! I appreciate it.

@wiggins-zap

All depends on how many action steps you have in a Zap.

Rule of Thumb: 1 successfully run Zap action step = 1 Task.

Try building out the Zap with the desired logic and testing.

FYI:

  1. Zaps with Paths can only have up to 5 paths: https://zapier.com/apps/paths/integrations
  2. Zaps with Paths can go down multiple paths.

Thanks!
