 Hi,

regarding this topic here

I’ve experienced this  problem for a week and couldn’t work around it.

This app is blocked

This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access.

Situation:

I am a technical support for my friend’s company who is using google account for everything. The friend is in other country than me.

I had no problems authenticate my own google account with zapier, but stumbled on complete block of the google documents connection from my friend’s google account - except google drive for some reason.

We tried everything. From me trying to connect to it and she 2FA confirmed the google account, then that I also enabled 2FA on zapier, then that she loged into my zapier on her side and tried to connect to the google docs/sheets/slides through zap - nothing.

Since I can not see anyone who came up with the solution in older threads, I am giving you my solution that worked. My friend, whose google account I wanted to add, loged into my zapier in her country. Then when you want to choose or change the google account of docs/sheets/slides, there is a small text:

Google Docs (1.4.1) is a secure partner with Zapier. Your credentials are encrypted and can be removed at any time. You can manage all of your connected accounts here.

When you click on “manage all of your connected accounts here”, or go to the App Connection on the left side bar, you can actually add a connection for each app and then it works fine.

I’m giving this also here for admins to maybe have a closer look of why google drive works fine (it has different authentication interface through zaps than google sheets/slides/docs) and why it works through the App Connection from left sidebar, but not through the zap it selves.

Best regards.

Thanks so much for sharing this @alioness! Really appreciate you taking the time to post details on how you were able to prevent Google from blocking Zapier’s access when connecting. 🤗 I’m sure there will be plenty of folks that will find this information useful so I’ve moved this over to our Show & Tell category.

As to why it worked for Google Drive but not not Google Sheets, Google Docs or Google Slides I’d suggest reaching out to our Support team about that. It could be that there’s a difference in how the authentication is handled for the different apps or it could be that there’s a bug - they’ll be able to investigate that further to determine the cause.

In the meantime, I’ll be sure to share a link to your post on that other topic you referenced to help surface the solution to others that might come across it in future. Thanks again for sharing this and helping out the community! 🧡
