I am trying to create a trigger for any channel that starts external-

During the slack channels selection I do not see this as being possible and it forces to select a specific channel. Is there a way to do this?

Hi @guse,

What exactly do you want to be the trigger?

A new slack channel but only if it starts with the keyword? Or triggers off of a message sent in any channel as long as that channel’s name has the key word?… Could you clarify? 👍

Hi and thank you,

If a message is posted in a channel that starts with external- send a message to a slack channel called channel1

Hi @guse ,

You can do the following to achieve that:

  • Trigger: Slack → “New Public Message Posted Anywhere”
  • Action: “Filter by Zapier” and filter on the channel name
  • Action: Slack → Send message

See the screenshot below. Please let me know if this works or if you have any other questions.

Thank you, just another question. Is there an easier way to filter for external messages or connections in slack? I did find the filters now and I haven’t seen one that i can filter for external connections.

Thank you so much for your help!
