Creating a webhook for an app that is not assosciated with Zapier

I do not know how nor have I found the training info or help for creating a webhook for an app that is not assosciated with Zapier. What is a pick off a child key? If it’s not my app, how do I know what fields will be captured? The 3rd party app is asking me for a successful example of a full post URL with all of the fields listed from Zapier. I am lost. Please help.

Hi @Christine Howell

Help articles about using the Webhooks Zap app: https://zapier.com/apps/webhook/help

If the app will be sending data to trigger a Zap to run, then all you need to provide is the generated webhook URL from the Zap trigger step.

The app would be providing the data payload to the Zap webhook url.

Check the field description for info about the Pick Off a Child Key.

NOTE: This is OPTIONAL, so you don’t have to set this.

Thank you Troy,

So they will send the data into the webhook. Where will I be able to see that data so I can map it to the correct fields?

@Christine Howell

Once data is sent to the webhook URL, you can test the Zap trigger step using the ‘Test’ tab section to pull thru the data.
