I’m using a WordPress trigger with the "Updated Post" action to work with a specific custom post type when a post of that type is published. The custom post type appears in the list, but when I test the trigger, it doesn’t work—I’m only receiving data from the default post type. However, when I use the same custom post type with the "New Post" trigger, it works as expected. Could you help me troubleshoot this issue?

Note: I am updating Post Problematically, using wp_update_post hook.

Hey @niralibiniwale-bacancy ,

Sometime Zapier might receive incorrect test data. This is rare but can happen with webhook based triggers. I will suggest to finish building your Zap, switch it ON and than test it.

But without correct data I will be unable to finish building Zap. As I want to update the PassKit membership based on data updated in the custom post type.

Hi @niralibiniwale-bacancy.

Before we dig deeper into this, it looks like the Updated Post trigger is loading an older sample data. Could you please try updating one of your post in WordPress and head back to the trigger step and click on the “Find new records” button once more.

Kindly give it a try and let me know how it goes? I'll keep an eye out for your response!

Hey folks! 👋

@niralibiniwale-bacancy - just checking in here to see how you got on with this. Did Ken’s reply help to get things sorted?

Let us know if not and we’ll be happy to assist further! 🙂

Hi @ken.a I tried multiple times with updating posts using update button & programmatically but it is not working for Custom Post Type. It is only working for Default WordPress Posts type.

Thanks for the update, @niralibiniwale-bacancy! Hmm, I wonder if it might be an issue that’s limited to the loading of test record samples. 🤔

If you turn on the Zap and run a quick live test by updating a custom post type and set it to ‘published’ does that then trigger the Zap?

If so, if you then head back over to the Zap can it be loaded in as a new test record? If not, then you could potentially use the workaround in the following guide to select the necessary fields in the actions of your Zap:

And it if the Zap doesn’t trigger, then I’d recommend reaching out to our Support team to flag this as a potential bug. You can do that using the What would you like more help with? form at the bottom of the page here: https://zapier.com/app/get-help (be sure to select the Report a bug or request a feature option form the list).

Keen to ensure this gets sorted so please keep us in the loop on how you get on!
