Trello custom fields not firing the New Activity trigger

We are trying to trigger a zap using a ‘Date custom field’ in Trello but its not working.

Our zap goes like this - whenever a member inputs the date in the custom field, we wanted a certain email to be notified a week before the input date. The 3 key action was New Activity Trigger, Date format, and the sending of email.

I heard New Activity trigger should catch activities in custom field as well but it doesn’t on this case. The trigger is working perfectly fine on other activities such as comments in card or changing of the Due Date, etc.

Any ideas on what we’re missing?

Hey, guys! Thanks for the quick response!

Introducing the Trello internal automation / Butler solved the problem!

Hi @James Darrel

Is the custom field a “Date” type field?

Look into using the Butler Power-Up by Trello: https://help.trello.com/article/1198-an-intro-to-butler

Perhaps post screenshots with how your Zap steps are configured and an example from a Trello Card to help provide context.

Hi @James Darrel

Here’s a list of activities that Trello offers: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1opvJZ2yqfWgVr5ol1NXkvhn7Y4RKon2xPhemMbQprwA/edit#gid=0

You can check with Trello’s internal automation if it can send webhook for changes in custom filed.
