Hello,

Like the title says: "Teamleader Focus - Link contact to company" does not work.

My Zap contains the following steps:

  • Wpforms
    New forms entry
  • Teamleader Focus
    Create contact
  • Teamleader Focus
    Create company
  • Teamleader Focus
    Link contact to company

All steps are working, except the last one “Link contact to company”.

I do get an error saying:

“ The error you're encountering indicates that the contact ID 40a7bc09-44ce-0d9a-9c72-77b394509e78 does not exist in Teamleader's system, which is why the "link_contact_to_company" action failed. This could happen if the contact was not created successfully in a previous step or if the ID was incorrectly passed to this step. To resolve this, first verify that the contact was indeed created in a prior step and that the correct contact ID is being used. You can do this by checking the output data of the step where the contact was supposed to be created. If the contact creation step is missing or failed, ensure that it is correctly set up and that the contact ID is being captured and passed correctly to subsequent steps.

To troubleshoot further, you can use Zapier's built-in tools to inspect the data flow. Use the "Test" feature in the Zap editor to run the Zap and observe the data being passed between steps. This will help you confirm whether the contact ID is being generated and transferred correctly. If the contact creation step is missing, consider adding a step to create the contact before attempting to link it to a company. Additionally, ensure that any dynamic fields are correctly mapped and that there are no typos or mismatches in the IDs being used.”

Do I need to delay the is step or something in order to make the link succesfull?

Hi @HGL

Help us have more info about the error by posting these screenshots:

  • how your Zap step is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible
  • the encountered error in the Zap step

Hello Troy, thank you for your reply.

The encountered error in the Zap step was already posted before in my previous post, but I did not posted the screenshots of the configurations of the step. I hereby post those screenshots:

@HGL

By providing screenshots of the encountered error in the Zap step it gives us true context.

Check/try:

  1. Refresh the data in the Zap step using the icon button.
  2. Try reselecting the Contact and the Company field values before testing again.
  3. Check that the selected Contact and Company still exists in Teamleader.

I refreshed the data in the Zap with that button, and did the test. The test was succesfull and when I looked at Teamleader Focus I noticed that there was indeed a link between the contact and the company.

But it’s only succesfull if I manually do a test, it still does not work automatically.

I noticed I had selected a specific contact and a specific company to link with each other in the Zap “Link Contact to Company”. This ofcourse works if I do that myself, but it does not work automatically because the link is already created. I got those recommendations from the AI (which were not good).

Now I selected the “Contact ID” at the Contact field and the “Company ID” at Company field myself, but this also not works. If I test it says: “The error you're encountering indicates that the "link_contact_to_company" action in your Zap is trying to link a contact using an ID that doesn't exist in Teamleader's system. The error message specifically states that no contact was found for the ID 7c1d8672-f502-4333-9ea4-7a45add15115. This suggests that the contact ID being used is either incorrect or not yet created in Teamleader.

To resolve this, first ensure that the contact ID being passed to the "link_contact_to_company" step is correct and corresponds to an existing contact in Teamleader. You can do this by checking the output of the step that creates or retrieves the contact ID. If the contact is supposed to be created in a previous step, verify that the step successfully executed and returned a valid contact ID. If the contact ID is dynamically generated, ensure that the correct variable is being used in the "link_contact_to_company" step. You can use Zapier's "Test & Review" feature to inspect the data being passed between steps and adjust the mapping accordingly.”

So how can I fix this?
