Hi,

Firstly, I am new to Zapier and cannot find an answer in the community, sorry if this has been answered before!

I am trying to create a zap that automatically fulfils orders in Shopify when I get an email (in Gmail) from a supplier with shipping information that is in a PDF attachment.

So far I’ve got the zap to find the email and have used PDF.co (Document Parser) to extract the data needed from the emailed PDF.

I am stuck trying to get the zap to then find the order in Shopify. I can use the “Get Order by ID” event to find the relevant order - so I know it’s connecting to the store OK. When I use the “Find Order” event and use the “Query - Order ID” to find the order, it fails (both if I use the dynamic field from PDF.co OR if I just manually enter an order reference into this field.

Error message below, I’ve tried it with and without the # at the beginning of the order ref. and neither works (but does work fine in “Get Order by ID”.

Would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks,
Greg

I think the issue is that the order number/name and the order ID are different things.

When a new paid order comes in from shopify I get the ID as below

Try this just add the order name with the # as before leave the other fields blank
Do make sure that it’s stripped of spaces.

When you run this step it should find your order and the order ID which you could use to update shopify if needed.

I think that will work for you.

Let me know.

@GregDallamore

Try dropping the # in the order number. The shopify order name is usually the order number prefixed with a #.

See if that helps and let me know.

Hi @Badger

Thanks for the help.

I’ve tried it without the # and it doesn’t work. I’ve tried that both with a automatic reformat to remove it and just by entering the order ref. manually - neither works:

Hi @GregDallamore

If you still need help, post screenshots showing how your Shopify Zap step is configured in the CONFIGURE tab with the field mappings visible to give us more context.

@Badger - thanks so much, that worked. I had wondered if the ID was something different but hadn’t checked.
@Troy Tessalone - thanks for the reply, I think I’m there now.

Thanks again, I’ll move onto actually fulfilling the order next!
