Projectworks error: Authentication failed, the app returned "401"

Projectworks refuses to connect in Zapier for me and my coworkers. I receive the following errors (see screenshots).

This is not a permissions issue - I have full System Admin access in Projectworks. This is not an account/password issue - I am entering them correctly and my coworkers get the same errors. This is not a popup issue - I allowed all popups for Zapier webpages and Projectworks webpages.

I successfully connected other apps such as ClickUp, Google Calendar, Trello, and Jira. Please help. Thank you!

Yes - you need to use the API Credentials to use Zapier with Projectworks, not the individual credentials.  It then worked fine.

Hi @AlexH

Have you tried reaching out to Projectworks Support for help with their Zap app integration?

Hi @AlexH I am setting up my first Zap and am having the same problem with connecting to Projectworks.  Did you find out an answer?

Was it related to 2FA?

Hi @AmandaH,

That is correct the error code 401 usually means website’s server lacks valid authentication credentials. So it will be best to contact Projectworks to troubleshoot the 2FA authentication to their servers.

I am encountering the same error has @AmandaH after turning MFA off. Any suggestions? @AmandaH did you get the connection to work?

Hi @JamesL,

If the issue is still unresolved, I recommend contacting Projectworks developers or support since they maintain and update their app in Zapier.

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Thank you @AmandaH. It worked with the API credentials.Consumer Key is the username and Consumer Secret is the password. The Consumer Key is the ‘username’ requested and Consumer Secret is the password.
