Hello! In the past I’ve relied heavily on tags in Shopify for customers and products. I’ve begun moving a lot of that data and some new data to metafields. I have an existing zap where I add a tag to a customer after a trigger. I’d like to switch that up and have Zapier update a metafield for a customer. I don’t see that option built natively but maybe I’m missing something? I’m sure I could make an API call of some sort but figured I’d check here if anyone knows how to do it with the update customer in shopify action before I use a workaround.

Also, I have access to Shopify flow which could trigger when tag is added, update metafield, then remove the tag, but Zapier is my first automation love so I start here.

Hi @idealwellnesswa

Good question.

You may need to use the Shopify API: https://shopify.dev/docs/api

Try this Zap action: Shopify - App Extension

There is an AI assist that can help configure the action.
