How to add tasks to Microsoft To Do using Alexa

I am trying to use Alexa on my echo show to add tasks to Microsoft To Do and not to the Alexa shopping list!

Is there a way to do this as I know that Amazon and Microsoft do not play nicely!
I am a complete novice to zapper so step by step would be fantastic!

Cheers

Hi @bobegg,

Welcome to the Community.

To set up a Zap that adds tasks to Microsoft To Do from Alexa, create a new Zap with "Trigger Phrase Spoken" as the trigger for Alexa. Then, choose "Create Task" for Microsoft To Do as the action, linking the task subject to the item name from Alexa. Test the Zap and turn it on, and it will automatically add tasks to Microsoft To Do whenever you add an item to your Alexa shopping list.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

thank you.
I am still not able to get it to work.

I am getting stuck on the step in the Microsoft To Do configure section where it is asking for a title. What should go there. Thank you

Hi @bobegg,

The "Title" field in Microsoft To-Do is required and determines the task name. You can set it dynamically based on your workflow, such as using a column from Google Sheets or an email subject from Gmail, or enter a fixed title. This ensures tasks are easily identifiable in your To-Do list.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you
All I’m trying to do is speak into my Alexa and say something like “ File taxes’ And it goes to my Microsoft to do.
So I don’t have to keep two to do list one in Amazon Alexa and one Microsoft to do.
So there’s no Google spreadsheets or emails just my voice command into Alexa

I hope that makes sense

Hi @bobegg,

Using Zapier, you can automate adding tasks from Alexa to Microsoft To-Do. Set up a Zap with Amazon Alexa’s “Trigger Phrase Spoken” as the trigger and Microsoft To-Do’s “Create Task” as the action. Map the task content from Alexa to Microsoft To-Do, test the Zap, and once activated, tasks added via Alexa voice command will automatically appear in your Microsoft To-Do list.
