How to Import Tasks from Google Sheets to Asana Without Duplicating

Hi, I’m looking for support with this same thing.

I have successfully created the Zap but the problem is that it continually runs and adds the same tasks over and over again.

End goal: I want a list of tasks created for various projects in Google Sheets to import into Asana as Tasks, when I manually trigger it. Without creating the same tasks over and over.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi @cadexpat, welcome to the Community! 🎉

Hope you don’t mind but we’ve split this out into a new topic as you seem to be facing a different issue of the exact same tasks being added repeatedly, rather than not being added at all.

If you’ve mapped the task information directly from the relevant Google Sheets trigger fields then the Asana tasks should be created with the relevant task details that are supplied by Google Sheets, not the same exact tasks everytime. 🤔

Are you by any chance using the New or Updated Spreadsheet Row (Google Sheets) trigger? If so, I wonder if it could be that edits to the existing rows are triggering the Zap and causing the tasks to be re-added. Or were there structural changes like the deletion/sorting of rows that might have caused existing rows to be seen as new and caused the Zap to re-trigger for old information. Do you think either of those might have been the case here?

If not, can you share a screenshot showing the current setup? That’ll help us to get a better idea of what might be causing the same tasks to be added repeatedly. Make sure to blur or remove all personal information (names, emails, addresses etc.) from screenshots before sharing - you can use a tool like Zappy for that.

Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you!
