Question

How to download a file from a non-public link provided in an email using an Email Parser?

Hello,

I am  getting email from third party containing URL link to download the excel sheet. Link is not publicly available. It requires verification code when we click on link for downloading the file. Can I automate this process like downloading the file  and save it in salesforce  using zapier email parser?

Thanks!

Hi @varsha,

Welcome to the Community.

Yes, you've summed it up correctly. Automating the process involves using Zapier's Email Parser to extract URL links and verification codes from emails, automating web interactions with tools, and then uploading the downloaded file to Salesforce with a Zapier action. However, this process can be complex due to the verification code step. It's recommended to reach out to the third party to see if they can provide API access to the data, which would simplify the process. Always ensure that sensitive data, such as verification codes, is handled securely and complies with all relevant data protection regulations.

Hi @varsha 👋

Just came across your post here and wanted to reach out to ask how things are going. Were you able to get the desired workflow set up?

If not, perhaps you could try creating a shared folder on an app like Google Drive and ask the third party to upload the excel sheets into rather than emailing them to you? Then you’d have a Zap that uses Google Drive’s New File in Folder trigger to run when a new file is uploaded, then have a Create File Salesforce action add the file. That should help to get around the verification code issue.

Keen to ensure you’re all set here so please let us know if you’re still stuck at all, happy to assist further! 🙂
