The need for more advanced HTML parsing/DOM libraries

Today I had to build a Zap that parsed a HTML email template to pick out specific data as fields for a CRM system. I first looked at the Email Parser by Zapier, unfortunately it quickly became obvious that despite multiple methods of matching and having AI functionality, the layout of the email was too complex. The service specifically sending the email also only appeared to send a HTML only email, no plain text which was mainly the issue, as I think realistically the Email Parser by Zapier is designed for basic templates. While there are email parsing services, they cost or require a further subscription, so I looked at other options.I then went back to a standard email inbound action and then a Code by Zapier block using JavaScript, eventually having to settle on using regex to pick specific parts of the HTML and assign these as fields with some further parsing. This worked, partly due to the fact by some luck the HTML elements had unique identifiers for every key piece of data, this

Filter by Accepted/Declined Events on Google Calendar

I found a solution for controlling whether or not a Zap runs based on the status of the event (Accepted/Declined). Note that this would only work consistently for the status of the person who created the event. This is perfect for me since I wanted my Zap to only trigger when I had NOT declined an event. This may not be the perfect solution, but it was more than I had found, and hopefully helps others. Using a Format step, followed by a conditional, I was able to accomplish this:The format step is necessary because “Attendees Response Status” contains a list of all statuses in a list, like “accepted, declined, accepted...”. And only the first status reflects that of the event creator. My first intention was to to collect the Google Clic ID from google ads into livestorm registrant and push it back to google ads to recrod and offline conversion. How to choose a random Zapier table record and get the record by ID

I noticed that Zapier Tables doesn’t have an option for getting a table record by ID. This was throwing a wrench in my plans for my use-case. Use-case: Have a dynamic segment of an email that constantly rotates between different blog posts to recommend to readers, without having to update it manually. I created a table with my list of blog posts, with their name and link. To get a random record from the table, I use a search to return all the records as line items, then use a formatter step to pick a random line item. I pick the record ID in order to be able to get the entire record. Then, to get the record, I use the “update record” step which requires an ID. I don’t fill out any of the fields to update. They don’t overwrite data when they’re empty, so all it does is return the entire record. I then update an RSS feed with only 1 item with the info from the record. Do you need more control over Zap scheduling (while using fewer tasks)?

I’ve seen a lot of inventive workarounds to schedule when workflows run! 🗓️I'd love to hear what challenges you’ve encountered when trying to trigger a zap:every *other* day on the 3rd Thursday of every month 7 hours from now while taking into account store hours etcCompared to all of the workarounds I’ve seen in this forum that use Google Sheets, Paths, loops, and formatting steps, a new approach I’m working on would give you precise control and reduce your daily triggers followed by a bunch of date checking. It would even work without Paths.But to really nail this, I need to hear more about your pain. 😫What are you doing to manage workflow scheduling, and what do you wish you could do?

Zapier Utils: Find Zap by Webhook URL [Chrome Extension]

Hi everyone,I have recently answered a question about finding a zap that is associated with a webhook URL without having to open every single zap to look for which one contains the webhook URL. So I wrote a script that can actually scan all the zaps and then outputs the zap URL that is associated with webhook URL provided by the user.This obviously requires the user to open the Browser dev tools then paste the script and replace the webhook URL before executing the script. PROOF: Delay For Less than 1 Minute with the Delay For Action Step

PROOF that it is indeed possible to delay a Zap for less than 1 minute using the Delay For action step! CreditsTroy Tessalone is a Certified Zapier Expert at Automation Ace. Don’t believe everything you read, and when in doubt, test it out! Screenshot below shows the Zap Run history with a timestamp created before and after 30 second delay.(Note: The time difference between the 2 timestamps shown is a bit longer than 30 seconds because of the time it takes to process the other Zap steps.)
