Github asana integration - pull requests pulled in as issues

I’ve set up a zap to create new tasks in asana for when issues are submitted as well as  zap to create new tasks in asana for new pull requests.

It looks like this question was raised previously but closed without a resolution.

I’m seeing a note in the common problems for git to just filter for the PR URL to exclude these.

https://zapier.com/help/doc/common-problems-github#pull-requests-are-triggering-the-new-issue-trigger

However, I am not seeing any option to filter for this.

Hi @maxinen,

Thank you for posting in the Zapier Community! Happy to help here.

I see that you have reached out to Support about this exact question/concern and yes, the recommendation from our Support teammate is to use Filter by Zapier to achieve your end goal:

In order to filter for pull request URL, you'll want to add the "Filter by Zapier" action between the GitHub trigger and Asana action. The final setup would look something like this:

Trigger: GitHub | New issue
Action: Filter by Zapier | Only continue if...

  • Map the pull request URL in the first dropdown
  • And then select "Doesn't exist"
  • This tells the filter to not continue if there's a pull request URL, otherwise continue to the next action.

If you have additional questions about this specific solution, I recommend you continue working with our Support team since they can provide more specific answers with screenshots to guide you with the steps needed to completed on your end.

If there's anything else I can assist you with, please don't hesitate to reach out.
