Do I need another app to send notifications from Glide Message Board using Zapier?

Hello!

I am using the glide message board app and zapier to receive notifications ( email/ text) when a new message is sent in the glide app. My question is, do I need a separate app that hold the contact information for the people who are communicating in the app for the zap to send them a notification? It is my understanding that zapier and webhooks are used to communicate between apps so I would need a second app that holds the user’s contact info that way the two apps can use zapier/ webhooks to communicate right?

Perhaps you can outline a specific example for us so we can better understand the Zap steps you are trying to configure.

Screenshots are helpful if applicable.

 

For example, if you want to send a SMS, then many use Twilio: https://zapier.com/apps/twilio/integrations

Update:

So I am using the Glide app with the message board template for my users to basically post updates to reach everyone listed in the Glide app. I have also added Twilio to store their numbers and send the SMS notification when a new message is posted in Glide. My question is, is there a way for these two app to communicate with each other in real time to send a real time SMS text notification to the users numbers when a new message is posted on the message board in Glide app ? Will I have to use Zapier webhooks or is there an alternative to real time SMS notifications?

Hey @Janasco! Thanks for elaborating. :) To trigger an action in Zapier, you’ll need to either make an update within one of these connected data sources using the “actions” functionality, or use actions to trigger an update in Zapier like so: https://www.glideapps.com/docs/reference/actions/zapier-action

From there, you may need to somehow find/send all contact phone numbers so you can use the “Send SMS” action in Twilio. Does that help point you in the right direction? What other questions do you have?
