Question

Zapier Filter Connecting Google Sheets to Asana?

I’m trying to create a zap that creates an Asana task when the value of a certain column in Google Sheets is changed to a specific value. The column in Google Sheets is a dropdown menu, so for example if the dropdown menu options are “Yes” or “No”, when a record’s cell is changed to “Yes”, the zap would create a task for me in Asana with the other information in that row.

I haven’t been able to find a way to use Filter with both Google Sheets and Asana - is this possible?

Hi @BWD

The Filter should be used as Step 2 in the Zap: https://zapier.com/apps/filter/help

Perhaps you can post screenshot with how your Zap steps are configured.

“New or Updated Spreadsheet Row” trigger behavior

If you’re using the New or Updated Spreadsheet Row trigger and choose Any column to monitor, any change to a row will trigger your Zap. If you select a specific column, then the Zap will only trigger when there are changes on that column.

Note

Zaps using New or Updated Spreadsheet Row will also trigger for any new rows in the spreadsheet, even if the specified column is blank. To avoid triggering in those cases, add a Filter step to your Zap.

Thanks Troy - I’ll attach what I’m getting here

This is what the Sheet looks like:

So it should be accepting cell A325, and I’m getting this error:

@BWD

That’s not an error, rather a warning that the Filter would not have continued for the sample record being used to configure the Zap.

Here’s a help article about how to change the trigger test data: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/change-the-test-data-in-your-zap-trigger
