Successful Sales in PayPal sending repeat Mailchimp welcome emails for returning customers

Hello!

I have been using the Successful Sale Paypal trigger for my annual membership subscriptions. I use this trigger to add the customers email to mailchimp, send out welcome emails, and more.

However, now we are in year 2 of our membership and returning members are receiving the same welcome emails, etc for their 2nd year of membership. This is because the action is using the payer email from Paypal to complete the task. Ideally for these zaps the action will only happen once for each email of the successful sale.

Can you please advise if there’s a better way to setup these zaps? I have a series of zaps setup this way and it has put a halt on our communications as to not distribute repetitive information.

Thank you for your help!

Hi @MegC

In MC, you should add a Tag that can be used as a Filter in the Mailchimp Customer Journey to ensure a Subscriber only goes thru the Customer Journey once.

Thanks Troy. Looks like that’s an easy fix with mailchimp.

How about with adding a new customer with Hubspot?

Or sending an automatic email via Outlook?

Appreciate your help!

Hi @MegC

Check out the available Zap triggers/actions for each app...

HubSpot: https://zapier.com/apps/hubspot/integrations#triggers-and-actions

Outlook: https://zapier.com/apps/microsoft-outlook/integrations#triggers-and-actions

Office 365: https://zapier.com/apps/office-365/integrations#triggers-and-actions

Apologies, Troy I don’t think I was explicit enough.

I do have the Outlook and Hubspot zaps, but I don’t see how to use the filter so the customer journey only happens once. I may be missing the field but don’t seem to see it. :face_palm_tone1:

Thanks again for your patience!

Megan

Hiya! I wanted to pop in and consolidate a few of these answers into one in case it’s helpful!

In order to achieve this there appears to be a setting on the Mailchimp Customer Journey as explained here
