Is there a way to automate creating a new gmail label under an existing parent label? There are mentions of people using syntax but I cannot get this to work nor can find proper instructions on setting up the syntax properly.

And here is label in gmail. You can see the label below the highlighted one. That’s the parent label I am trying to save the new label under.

Am I entering this properly?

@Davyn

You don’t need the enclosing double quotes “”

Try adding the Parent Label first, then adding the Child Label next using the defined structure with the forward slash /

Hi Troy,

So I have entered Parent/Child and it just created 1 label named Parent/Child. Do you mind writing in exactly what you would put and I will copy and paste?

I have an existing parent label named:

1 - Send Video & Book 3 Way Call

New child label name is:

first name last name

Cheers

@Davyn

Try creating 2 Labels

Label: Parent

Label: Parent/Child

The reason is that it’s shown in Gmail as Parent/Child, is because there is no matching Label yet.
