Hi there,

I’m trying to create a Zap that would mean all incoming emails in Gmail are labelled with a predetermined label if the email sender is saved in a specific contact group in Google Contacts.

I’ve tried a few different ways of doing this as I can’t seem to find a filter that does the job, but haven’t had any success just yet - any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @LauraJane

Try these steps…

STEPS

  1. Trigger: Gmail - New Email (Matching Search)
  2. Action: GContacts - Find Contact (will return Groups for Contact)
  3. Action: Filter (if Contact is in Group)
  4. Action: Gmail - Add Label to Email

Hi @Troy Tessalone,

That works perfectly - thank you so much for your help and speedy response!

so I tried this out and something is going wrong

in the beginning in the first step I had hard coded the “from email” for the search, later I made it based on the result from zapier but somehow only that one from email address seems to do the labelling

I have 3 contacts in my contact group and only one of them is applying the label when the zap triggers ?

it says labels were added to 2 emails but when I go check I see label only in one off the emails

the group I am looking for is “clients”

here is the zap

TIA !

Hi @NateG!

I checked out that Shared Zap and found this:

Can you try removing the word “email” to see if that fixes things?

As a follow up to this, is there a way of scheduling this automation at regular intervals or, ideally, making this an instant Zap?

Thank you!

Hi @LauraJane

The Schedule app can be use to trigger Zaps at set intervals: https://zapier.com/apps/schedule/integrations

All the Gmail triggers are “Scheduled” meaning it can take from 1-15 minutes for the Zap to fire based on your Zapier plan.
